This RARE deerskin covered domed travel trunk measures
27 inches in length, 12 inches tall, and 13.5 inches deep. It is a family
heirloom that must be sold as the seller downsizes and will be moving to a
smaller residence.
Not much is known about the trunk other than it
is very old and has been in the possession of the family for many years. In
more recent times, in the early to mid-1900s, it served to house a girl’s doll
named Millicent.
The initials “M C H” appear on the top of the
trunk. Based on family history, the only person with those initials lived in
Tennessee in the early 1800s. But there is no evidence to link that person to
the trunk. The trunk is a great example of a fine handmade
object dating back to the nation’s early days. It is now looking for a new
owner to take it into the future.
