Burgess & Leigh Middleport England Staffordshire Flow Blue Deep Dish or Small Oval Serving Bowl, c 1880

This small Flow Blue deep dish or oval serving bowl has a scenic view, sometimes referred to as Outdoor Scenery, of a bend in a river surrounded by forest lands, in the foreground a man is speaking with a seated lady.  On the left side is a castle with steps coming down near the shoreline, and in the distance on the right side is another home with mountains in the distance.  There is an interesting lacey border with insets of the castle repeated twice.

On the back of this small bowl is printed ‘NONPAREIL, B & L, ENGLAND,’ which stands for Burgess & Leigh, Middleport, Staffordshire, Burslem, England, c 1862 – 1999.

Dimensions:  5.875” W x 4.125” D x 1.125” H

Please excuse the white light glare marks in the photos.  This small, oval serving bowl has a repaired chip to the underside, two .25" rough areas on the bottom edge, toning on the underside inner lip area that does not show from the front, and otherwise is in excellent condition.  There is light crazing and stilt and kiln marks typical in the manufacture of pieces from this period of time, but nothing that diminishes the overall display value.  Offered as is and as found.
