Stunning antique Middle Eastern Bedouin Bib Necklace. I believe the 3 center cabochons are poured glass. Made mixed metals with possibly some low grade silver. As expected, there is plenty of tarnish, patina and small dents consistent with age and use.
The red in the cabochons and noisy dangles are intended to keep evil spirits at bay. In
addition, there are several stylized hands of Fatima charms to offer protective powers.
The style would indicate that this piece may be Yemenite.
Some of these necklaces can open to insert a Koran verse or talisman. This one does not, or was sealed at one point.
Central piece is approximately 3 in. x 2 in. It is 152,3 grams in total weight.
