This unit plays and records on small Mini-DV tapes as well as the large 60 min. tapes! I bought this NEW many years ago and it's in been in my studio and then home office ever since. I haven't used it in a few years but it still works perfectly. The front drawer opens fine, but you have to push it in to close it. In truth I have never used the controls in this drawer, I use the remote control.
