Documentary charting the life one of the early pioneers of jazz, Sidney Bechet. The New Orleans native was a consummate musician, mastering any instrument he encountered, most notably the saxophone and clarinet. Revered by his fellow musicians, Bechet composed and recorded many classic songs with the likes of Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. This programme takes you on a whirlwind tour of the cities where he found stardom: New Orleans, New York, London, and Paris. Among his peers paying tribute is legendary film director and avid clarinettist Woody Allen.
