The design of the lid is UNIQUE in the the rim that fits the pan is round, the petals form outside the round rim. Therefore easier to place lid on the bottom of the Braiser. Unlike the other cast iron peppers, apples, pumpkins and others that the lid only fits one way. These are FIRST QUALITY and not seconds.
Note: According to Le Creuset, all enameled cast iron may sometimes have mini bubbles, fine black dots, tiny pinholes, which the company considers normal even for first quality Le Creuset. After an extremely thorough inspection process & strict company compliance anything deemed unsellable is melted back down to create new products.
