Application notes:

- I have never heard a REX50 that didn’t have an audible noise floor. Including this one. Using an expander or noise gate might be a good idea depending on your musical goals.

- When using the Distortion effects, edit the threshold to taste and store it in one of the 60 user memories. That’s the way the all work.

- The REX50 is pretty simple, but its interface was designed in an earlier era. Print out a copy of the manual. Or you can shoot me a message, I’ve got a couple of years experience with them…there’s one in my permanent collection.

Condition notes:

- Moderate cosmetic wear consistent with a period of regular use…basically it was in someone’s rig until the buttons stopped working (Now they are new).

- Typical looseness to case. Yamaha used fragile plastic tabs to attach the top cover to the internal metal subframe. In theory it is probably possible to disassemble a REX50 without breaking some of them. I’ve never been the first one inside a REX50, so they are always already broken.

It has no effect on function because there are lots of screws and the aforementioned metal subframe. It’s just an aesthetic when handling the instrument.

- At some point the original power cord was replaced with a short power cord. See pictures. I used a power strip to get the reach I needed.

Why would you want it?

You can read the LED display in the dark.

You can change presets with a foot switch or MIDI.

You can activate bypass with a foot switch.

The desktop formfactor means its designed for control with your hands.

The effects can sit well in a mix or live set. Or not, they’re effects and it’s your music.
