  • Bezeichnung: Unterhalb der Darstellung im Stein signiert und mit dem Namen des Dargestellten bezeichnet. Beiligend befindet sich ein großformatiges Faksimile einer Handschrift Las Cases, die 1816 auf St. Helena entstanden ist.

  • Beschreibung: Lithographiert von François Séraphin DELPECH (1778 Paris - 1825 ebd.). Büstenporträt im Viertelprofil. Als Offizier kämpfte Las Cases auf französischer Seite im Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg und beteiligte sich nach der Französischen Revolution im Kampf gegen die Revolutionäre. Ab 1814 kommandierte er die 10. Legion der Nationalgarde und folgte 1815 Napoleon Bonaparte ins Exil nach St. Helena. Dort schrieb er im Diktat einen Teil der Memoiren des Kaisers der Franzosen. Er ist zudem für die Tagebücher seines Aufenthaltes auf St. Helena bekannt.

  • Inscription: Signed in the stone below the depiction and inscribed with the sitter's name. Enclosed is a large-format facsimile of a manuscript by Las Cases, which was created on St Helena in 1816.

  • Description: Lithograph by François Séraphin DELPECH (1778 Paris - 1825 ibid.). Bust portrait in quarter profile. As an officer, Las Cases fought on the French side in the American War of Independence and took part in the fight against the revolutionaries after the French Revolution. From 1814, he commanded the 10th Legion of the National Guard and followed Napoleon Bonaparte into exile in St Helena in 1815. There he wrote part of the memoirs of the Emperor of the French in dictation. He is also known for the diaries of his stay on St Helena.

  • Condition: Good condition. Faint discolouration and scattered foxing visible along the edges. The upper left corner of the sheet is slightly creased. There is a short marginal tear on the right. The image makes a flawless impression.
