The Scorpion MD features brass gears, providing a sense of tightness and smoothness in its winding. We believe the base of its winding sensation combines intimacy and smoothness.Even under strong loads, this sensation is maintained. By simply bending the rod and cranking, whether it's bass or sea bass, you can land them with ease. With a line retrieval of 107 centimeters per handle turn, there's no slack in line tension when cranking hard. Hooks are less likely to come loose when stuck, resulting in a significant reduction in losses.
The Scorpion MD pairs well with thick monofilament lines like nylon or fluorocarbon lines. This is because of its large spool diameter, which causes the line to float slightly on the surface of the spool.Instead of causing overrun and backlash, the line floats softly, creating a condition where extending distance is easily achievable. When all eight brake shoes of the included centrifugal brake system, SVS, are activated, it efficiently eliminates even the softly floating line, which is quite satisfying. With just a light swing of the rod, you can achieve a casting distance of 40 meters with a 20-pound nylon line.
For distances around 60 meters, you can clear them with a regular casting form, so even if there's a sudden boil offshore, you'll be able to shoot through it the next moment.By the way, I tried casting with a 5-gram non-sinker rig. It traveled about 8 meters and landed slightly taut, but it was castable nonetheless. For worms weighing around 10 grams, casting with a non-sinker rig is perfectly feasible. It seems like a recommended bait reel for those who want to target bass or sea bass while rubbing against cover with thick lines. |
