This 1972 BMW 2002 was acquired from Northern California in 2023. It's a rust-free example in excellent condition, with solid floors, shock towers, pedal box, rockers, and all the usual vulnerable areas. It features a 2.0L inline four engine, reportedly rebuilt with Ireland Engineering components about five years ago (documentation not available). The original factory 4-speed transmission was replaced with a Getrag 245 5-speed gearbox during the rebuild. Additional modifications include a Momo steering wheel, Bilstein shocks, and new front and rear suspension.

The car was refinished by the previous owner in a non-factory shade of red, resembling BMW's Verona red. There's minimal evidence of filler, and the finish exhibits only minor paint imperfections. The undercarriage appears immaculate, possibly due to a rotisserie restoration. The center grill is incorrect for the year. The front bumper has been removed but is included and in excellent condition. The rear bumper over-riders have also been removed, with all chrome parts included in the sale.

Alpina replica wheels fitted with older but excellent Kumho Ecsta tires are currently on the car, while a complete set of original steel wheels are included as well. The seats have been reupholstered in a factory pattern, and the sunroof functions perfectly with no leaks. The headliner is in very good shape, though the sun visors and interior dome light are missing. Small cracks are evident on the dash, but overall, the interior is well-preserved. Coco mats are included for both the front and rear carpets.

The 2.0L inline-four engine is equipped with a Weber 38/38 carburetor, Ireland Engineering exhaust header, upgraded radiator with electric fan, and an Anza Sport exhaust system. Although the odometer is non-functional, it currently shows around 93,000 miles, with the true mileage unknown. All gauges, including the speedometer and tachometer, are functional. However, the heater blower and wipers are not operational, and the directional stalk is finicky, although the turn signals work fine. All lighting, including the reverse lights, functions properly.

This BMW 2002 runs perfectly and drives exceptionally well. It comes with a clean and clear North Carolina title in the current owner's name. Shipping logistics assistance can be provided, but the buyer is responsible for all associated costs.
