Portrait of Princess Sophia of Gloucester. Born 1773 in London, England. Died 1844.  Princess Sophia of Gloucester was the niece of King George III of United Kingdom.

From what I can gather from my research this print is an etching, and stipple engraving with some hand coloring.  The text at the bottom says it was engraved in 1806.  It is in good condition, but the paper is slightly soiled and has  a few stains. I bought it 30 years ago so I don't remember anything about the verso.

The frame is nothing special but it is in good condition.  The print was professionally mounted and the mat board is nicely cut.  The mat board is a pale black or deep midnight.

Some of the information I have comes from the bottom of the print itself, which reads:

"Engraved May 1st 1806 for John Bell, Southhampton Street, Strande, as the act directs; ..... for La Belle....."
I can't make out all of what it says as the cursive is fancy and it seems to be in French...maybe.

I also did some simple research online and the information I found seems to confirm this print's age.  I don't know a lot about antique prints so all I can do is trust the very reputable antiques dealer that sold this to me along with some simple research.
