LONDON, MIDLAND & SCOTTISH RAILWAY (LMS): 1943 Re-Built ROYAL SCOT CLASS 4-6-0 TRAIN STAMP SHEET

A GREAT Gift Idea for the Locomotive & Railway Enthusiast (as well as Stamp Collector) and Ideal For Framing.  A 22.5 x 32.7 cms Complete Sheet of 50 Stamps of the 1943 Re-Built ROYAL SCOT (4-6-0) comprising 25 se-tenant pairs of two genuine 1985 MINT/UNUSED 75c stamps from Bequia (Grenadines of St Vincent) in the West Indies (Issued 14th August 1985).  The first stamp illustrates the technical / plan drawings and the second stamp shows the locomotive at work.  The scans below show (i) a close up of the stamps and (ii) the complete sheet for sale.  The stamps are 32 years old but are in pristine unmounted mint condition.  The sheet would make an ideal present for the LMS / Royal Scot Class / Stanier Steam Locomotive Enthusiast and is ideal for framing.

The Royal Scot 4-6-0s ordered and built (in a hurry) between 1927 and 1930 were brought in for “repairs” and everything, except a few small parts and fittings, the cabs, the wheel splashes and the actual identity of each locomotive, was then replaced.  The result was that more or less by accident, the class was the best ever all-round moderate-size passenger locomotive in Britain (and demonstrated very clearly during comparative trials held soon after nationalisation).  ROYAL SCOT herself is preserved at Bressingham Hall (Steam Experience), Norfolk and SCOTS GUARDSMAN at the Dinting Railway Centre near Manchester.

I am also selling a complete sheet of the Royal Scot locomotive (No. 6100) in pre-change / original 1927 build format in one of my other auctions.

A Pretty Unique Item of LMS / Royal Scot Class / Stanier Steam Locomotive Memorabilia!
