50 Years of Bank Leumi PIA

On 30 June 1940, at the height of World War II, the Palestine Independent Trust Association, Ltd. was registered in Jerusalem. The public came to identify it by its initials, PIA. The company, which today manages 27 trusts, then managed a single one, also called PIA. Until the end of the 1950s, the company was active in Jerusalem. It was then purchased by Bank Leumi of Israel, Ltd., and moved to Tel Aviv. At the beginning of the 1980s, its name was changed to Leumi-PIA Trust Management Company, Ltd. Since its foundation, Leumi-Pia has been the largest trust manager in Israel.

Obverse: To the left, the symbol of the company with the initials "PIA" in stylized Hebrew letters. To the right, above, the inscription "jubilee 50" in Hebrew and English, the years "1940-1990 5700-5750" and "LEUMI PIA TRUST MANAGEMENT COMPANY LTD." in Hebrew and English.

Reverse: A 5 NIS coin of 5750 and a 20 mil coin from the British mandatory coinage series are combined. Below left, along the circumference, a Hebrew passage from Psalm 148:14.

Edge: Initials "I.G.C.M.C." and "BRONZE" in Hebrew and English, and serial number.
