'Canones et Decreta Sacrosancti Oecumenici et Generalis Concilii Tridentini' is one of the most important works to be published in the history of the Catholic Church.
The text lays out the decrees of the Council of Trent, this text being incredibly high in demand after the council ended in 1563. There were many different editions published across Catholic countries in 1564.
This is then one of the first works that lays out the doctrines and teachings of the Catholic Church Canon, an immensely important contribution to the religion.
Acting as a response to the Protestant Reformation, the Council is seen as a Counter-Reformation, spreading the word of the Catholic Church in the turbulent religious times of the sixteenth century.
