The seventh edition of this work. Complete in ten volumes. With half titles. Originally published in 1857. 

The collected works of William Shakespeare, with text revised and annotated by Alexander Dyce. Containing all histories, tragedies and comedies by England's national bard, including of course his famous works 'The Tempest', 'Much Ado About Nothing,' 'A Midsummer Night's Dream,' 'Macbeth,' 'Othello,' King Lear,' 'Romeo and Juliet,' 'Anthony and Cleopatra', &c. as well as his sonnets and other verses. 

A complete glossary to vol X. 

With preface to previous editions and a biographical sketch of the life of Shakespeare to vol I. 

Alexander Dyce was a Scottish dramatic editor and literary historian known for his prolific contributions to critical studies and biographies of prominent authors, as well as his valuable library, containing many rare Elizabethan books,  which was left to the South Kensington Museum (Victoria and Albert Museum) upon his death.


CONDITION

In uniform attractive tree calf bindings with titles in gilt to morocco spine labels, intricate gilt tooling to spine, gilt to edges, marbled endpapers. Tail of back strip to rear vol V gently lifting. Externally very smart with light rubbing to joints and head and tail of spine as well as light marking to boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean.
