DESCRIPTION

The scarce first edition.

In the original price-clipped dust wrapper.

David McKee's popular children's book, following a patchwork elephant named Elmer, who has grown tired of being so colourful, and wants to be like his fellow elephants. 

This first edition went somewhat under the radar, until in 1989 it was reprinted, and met with immediate and international success.

Illustrated colourfully throughout.


CONDITION

In the original publisher's cloth binding, in the original price-clipped dust wrapper. Externally, generally smart. A small amount of loss and lifting to the tail of the front joint and spine. Minor fading to the head and tail of the spine. A few light marks to the board. Dust wrapper is edge worn with chips and closed tears, chips heavier to the head and tail of the spine, and to the head of the front wrap, and a closed tear to the tail of the front wrap. Light marks and age-toning to the wraps. Faint ring mark to the reverse of the front wrap. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. A small amount of wear to the gutters of some pages, resulting in a very small amount of surface loss to the pages.
