This is a very special doll to me and to prob a lot of people. I did a lot of research on her and would like to share. Penelope, was the name given to her by the women who handmade her The women’s name was Jackie Eakin and she lived in a very small town in Avella Pa. On her tag Mrs. Eakin hand wrote her name and on the back wrote” Penelope 1890; In the 1890s a form called the hourglass figure became the dominant silhouette, the neck was always covered “. Penelope was handmade and stitched and wears a beautiful long dress adorned with ribbon and a flower button at the neckline She has a petticoat underneath along with her sweet little bloomers. She has the poof above her backside ( really don’t know how else to describe it ) with a bow tied above it. Lace detail around her neck and wrists also. When I looked up Mrs. Eakin unfortunately most of what I found was her obituary saying that she had passed away 8-21-23 at the age of 88 after a courageous battle with cancer ❤️
