DESCRIPTION:

Antique 1905 solid sterling silver cigar rest and ashtray with a VERY RARE side clip. I have never seen another like it and I’ve sold quite a few of these type trays. I have 3 including this one for sale at this moment in my store and each one is rare in its own right! This tray was manufactured this way with the extra side piece which is part of the mold. It’s not an add on plus this has no legs which explains the side clip. Also the bowl has an odd shape and the rest isn’t centered. I’m assuming this would have been made for a car and someone that is right handed. I love the oddity when it comes to antique silver but especially appreciate the rarity like this item. Bottom line is, if you collect these type tobacco items then this is a must have! I promise you won’t see another like it and bet it was a custom order or made for the owner. The condition is excellent, the hallmarks are clean and readable and has no monogram! Plus it’s 116 years old!!

I personally hand polish each item once over. Some items can be cleaned better but at least your not getting an item with hidden bruises! Patina is someone else's dirt, plus it hides all damages. Beware of sellers who use this tactic!
