Here is a wonderful opportunity to acquire this handsome half leather set of Charles Darwin's revolutionary classic. It is not an understatement to suggest that Darwin's theories, especially in this book, altered the course of scientific study, discovery, and history. It is one of the, if not the most important, work to ever be published.

Gilt top page edges. Publisher/Date: D. Appleton & Company; 1895 & 1897. Authorized Edition with addition and corrections from the sixth and last English edition. This book is the quarter leather with marbled boards edition. Clean Ex-library copy withdrawn from a university library. The card pockets and check-in sheets have been removed. There are call letters on the spine, a few withdrawn stamps in each volume, along with embossed library ownership markings. The text is unmarked. The binding is sound though it is cracking in a few spots. No dust jacket.  The cover is moderately worn along the edges. The page edges are toned with scattered foxing. The corners are bumped and the tips are rubbed through. Several pages have a small closed tear or two along the edges especially at the top. The last page is starting to detach from volume one. There are a couple of previous owner's names present.
