NGC VF Antoninianus of Salonina AD254-268 NGC Ancients Double Denarius

Publia Licinia Julia Cornelia Salonina, Augusta of the Roman Empire, was married to Emperor Gallienus and mother to Valerian II, Saloninus, and Marinianus. She became Augusta when her husband ascended to joint-emperorship in 253. After Gallienus' murder in 268, Salonina's fate is uncertain—either spared or executed with family members. Coins bear her name as Cornelia Salonina or variations like Iulia Cornelia Salonina. "Publia Licinia" may echo her husband's title , "Publius Licinius."
