A classic science fiction adventure novel following the story of marine biologist Pierre Aronnax and his manservant Conseil and harpoonist Ned Land, who are thrown overboard when a monster attacks.
'Vingt Mille Lieues Sous les Mers' was a pioneering work of sci-fi, with Captain Nemo's underwater ship, the Nautilus, describes many features of modern submarines, at a time when they were in their early days. Verne was inspired by seeing the Plongeur at the 1867 Exposition Universelle.
