Mitchell 330 Otomatic finger dab bail spinning reel, manufactured in France in 1956, serial number 680921 stamped upside down on the back of the housing.

This model is the automatic bail version of the Mitchell 300, which was launched by Carpano et Pons late in 1955. The bail configuration was continuously improved during the early manufacturing stages, and this is the fourth iteration that was made within one year of the launch.

The model number, 330, was added to the cover plate by the mid-600000 serial numbers, which makes this one of the first reels with this design of cover plate.

This reel has been lightly used, and the paintwork has some slight rubbing on the edges of the housing and foot where it attaches to the rod (see pictures). The reel is fully functioning with a smooth retrieve and loud, working anti-reverse. The chrome is shiny and the bail spring is strong and opens with a light finger dab.

This is a very good condition, hard to find, early configuration of the Otomatic model. It is a fully functioning, nearly 70 year old reel, to fish with or add to a collection.
