  • Description: The depiction shows a person studying in depth, bent over a book, turned away from the viewer. The somewhat midday lighting supports the focussed impression, while the detailed linework lends a tactile quality to the clothing and headgear. The overall composition is characterised by understated elegance and a calm atmosphere, underlined by the homogeneous colour tone of the background, which offers the viewer space for contemplation.
