  • Beschreibung: Brustbild eines Mannes in der Uniform eines Feldherren des Dreißigjährigen Krieges mit Scherpe und Hermelinbesatz. Das Porträt ähnelt Darstellungen Wallensteins, dem Oberbefahlshaber der kaiserlichen Truppen und Feldherren der Katholischen Liga. Die Namenskartusche unten ist unbeschriftet.

      Böhmischer Feldherr und Politiker. Er ist eine der bekanntesten Persönlichkeiten des Dreißigjährigen Krieges. Er war Herzog von Friedland und Sagan, von 1628 bis 1631 als Albrecht VIII. Herzog zu Mecklenburg, Fürst zu Wenden, Graf von Schwerin, Herr von Rostock, Herr von Stargard und als Generalissimus zwischen 1625 und 1634 zweimal Oberbefehlshaber der kaiserlichen Armee im Dreißigjährigen Krieg. Wallenstein kämpfte auf Seiten des Kaisers und der Katholischen Liga gegen die protestantischen Mächte Deutschlands sowie gegen Dänemark und Schweden. Er fiel jedoch später in Ungnade und wurde von kaisertreuen Offizieren ermordet.

  • Description: Half-length portrait of a man in the uniform of a commander of the Thirty Years' War, wearing a shearling and ermine trim. The portrait resembles depictions of Wallenstein, the commander-in-chief of the imperial troops and commander of the Catholic League. The name cartouche at the bottom is uninscribed.

      Bohemian general and politician. He is one of the most famous personalities of the Thirty Years' War. He was Duke of Friedland and Sagan, from 1628 to 1631 as Albrecht VIII. He was Duke of Mecklenburg, Prince of Wenden, Count of Schwerin, Lord of Rostock, Lord of Stargard and, as Generalissimo, twice Commander-in-Chief of the Imperial Army in the Thirty Years' War between 1625 and 1634. Wallenstein fought on the side of the Emperor and the Catholic League against the Protestant powers of Germany as well as against Denmark and Sweden. However, he later fell from grace and was murdered by officers loyal to the emperor.

  • Condition: Rather good condition. The edges of the sheet are just trimmed. Slightly rubbed along the platemark. Lower left marginally damaged. The corners of the sheet are slightly bumped and show traces of creasing.
