  • Bezeichnung: Unterhalb der Darstellung vom Künstler in der Druckplatte signiert "J. Berka d. et sc.". Oben rechts in der Druckplatte bezeichnet mit "Abt. v. Grafville 3. T.".

  • Beschreibung: Zu einem nächtlichen Zusammentreffen im Schein dreier großer Kerzen erscheint ein prächtig gekleideter Edelmann mit Pistole. Die Tür flankieren zwei dunkelhäutige Eingeborene mit blanken Säbeln. Vermutliuch handelt es sich um eine Verhaftung oder einen gewaltsamen Übergriff in einem frühen Kolonialgebiet.

  • Inscription: Signed by the artist in the printing plate below the depiction "J. Berka d. et sc.". Inscribed in the upper right corner of the printing plate "Abt. v. Grafville 3. T.".

  • Date: 18th century

  • Description: A splendidly dressed nobleman with a pistol appears at a nightly meeting in the light of three large candles. Flanking the door are two dark-skinned natives with bare sabres. Presumably this is an arrest or a violent attack in an early colonial territory.

  • Condition: Good condition. The sheet is discoloured and slightly soiled due to age. There are remnants of narrow adhesive strips on the lateral edges.
