  • Beschreibung: Das Blatt stammt aus Heinrich Pantaleons Hauptwerk 'Prosopographia heroum atque illustrium virorum totius Germaniae', bestehend aus drei Bänden, im Zeitraum 1565-66 herausgegeben. In Deutschen erschien das Werk 1578 unter dem Titel 'Teutscher Nation warhaffte Helden'. Oberhalb beschriftet mit "Heinricvs Pantaleon Anno etatis 43" und rückseitig mit der beschnittenen Titelseite des Buches. Die ganze Geschichte des deutschsprachigen Raumes sollte von der Urzeit an in Form von Biographien vorgeführt werden. Der erste Band beginnt mit Adam, der zweite mit Karl dem Großen, der dritte mit Maximilian I. Der letzte Band trug dem Verfasser seitens des Kaisers Maximilian II. die Ernennung zum Poeta laureatus und Hofpfalzgrafen ein.

  • Date: 16th century

  • Description: The sheet is from Heinrich Pantaleon's main work 'Prosopographia heroum atque illustrium virorum totius Germaniae', consisting of three volumes, published in the period 1565-66. The work appeared in German in 1578 under the title 'Teutscher Nation warhaffte Helden'. Inscribed above with 'Heinricvs Pantaleon Anno etatis 43' and the trimmed title page of the book on the reverse. The whole history of the German-speaking world was to be presented in the form of biographies from prehistoric times onwards. The first volume begins with Adam, the second with Charlemagne, the third with Maximilian I. The last volume earned the author the appointment of poeta laureatus and court palatine on the part of Emperor Maximilian II.

  • Condition: Rather good condition. The sheet bears holes and tears, which have been restored. With liquid stains centrally and right across the paper. At the margin with isolated wormholes, which have not yet been restored.
