here is a Vintage Seiko
5 7009-876A 17 Jewels Automatic Men’s Watch
This
classic Seiko Automatic timepiece features a 35.5 mm tonneau shaped gold plated case (signed SGP on back) with the crown at the
4 marker position. It houses an attractive metallic silver dial with applied gold baton markers and a Day / Date Display at the 3 marker. Hands and dots above indices are luminous.
The dial is signed with an applied SEIKO 5 - AUTOMATIC - 21 JEWELS. The watch is fitted with an aftermarket Dark Brown Alligator
Grain Calf leather band that is new. The watch is powered
by Seiko’s
6119A 21 Jewel Automatic movement that is running well. Please note: The date on this movement is not quickset while the day can
be changed by depressing the crown in the 0 position.
The numbers
on the dial, case back and movement are consistent confirming this timepiece is
all original.
Based on
the movement and serial number, this watch was made in August of 1970. For a watch that is
over 50 years old, it is in a remarkable pre-owned vintage condition. The case has it
plating mostly intact on the top but the lug ends and edges show nicks &
scuffs. Bottom of case has visible plating loss. Crystal barely has light scratches but time / dial can be clearly read. Dial is reasonably clean and lume on the hands still works (see last pic). The watch band is new
and shows light bends but no signs of active use. Movement is clean (see pics) and keeping
reasonably good time (loses a couple of minutes) for a vintage mechanical
watch. Service history is unknown though and, as with all vintage mechanical
watches, regular service is recommended.
I have

for condition and details as they are part of the description. Please note that all pictures are taken on the macro
setting to show detail. This makes even the slightest imperfections, shadows
during photography, and specks of dust appear much more prominent even though
they are often not visible without magnification.
This classic 70s design watch will make an admirable addition to any
vintage watch collection. Don’t let it get away!
