A plant species of hybrid origin of the genus Peony of the Peony family (Paeoniaceae). Deciduous shrub up to 1.5 m high . The stems are light brown. The flowers are single, terminal, 10 - 17 cm in diameter.

Bracts 5, elliptical, unequal. Sepals 5, green, broadly ovate. Petals 5-11, white, pink, red or red-purple, obovate, 5-8 × 4.2-6 cm, tops irregularly incised.

The staminate filaments are pink or purple, white in the distal part, about 1.3 cm. Anthers are about 4 mm. The carpels are thickly felt, in an amount of 5, rarely more. The leaflets are oblong, thickly brownish—yellow, felt.

Peony is unpretentious, resistant to diseases. He can stay in one place without a transplant for more than 20 years.
