From 1975-1978: a lot of 8 DC #1 issues.  Some great comics creators contributed to these issues, including Wally Wood, Steve Ditko, Denny O'Neil and more!  Average condition of this lot is Fine.  All staples are present, free from rust, and holding all pages and covers together.  No water damage.  Specific defects will be noted below.

In this lot you get:

  1. Justice Inc. #1 Scripter Denny O'Neil and artist Al McWilliams adapt the pulp character created by Kenneth Robeson.  Cover by Joe Kubert.  Fine Plus condition: there are several spine stress lines on the front cover, and some slight soiling visible along the upper edge of the back cover.

  2. Stalker #1. First appearance.  Written by Paul Levitz, penciled by Steve Ditko, inked by Wally Wood, who also drew the cover.  Fine condition. Slight color loss from abrasion along the spine of the front cover.  Minor ink transfer staining on the back cover.

  3. Sherlock Holmes #1.  Denny O'Neil adapts stories by Holmes' creator Arthur Conan Doyle.  E. R. Cruz supplies the interior artwork.  The cover is by Walt Simonson.  Fine condition.  The top right corner of the front cover has small color-breaking creases.  There is a thin reading crease along the lower spine of the front cover.

  4. Man-Bat #1. Cover art by Jim Aparo. Inside is a rare opportunity to see Steve Ditko penciling the Batman in a story.  Al Milgrom inks, and Gerry Conway is the scripter.  Fine condition.  Note this book was manufactured with only a single staple, the upper one.  There is a color break at the spine right above this staple.  Slight abrasive color loss along the lower edge of the front cover.  The back cover has some creasing near the lower right-hand corner, but this creasing does not break color.

  5. Karate Kid #1. Cover art by Mike Grell.  Inside, artists Ric Estrade and Joe Staton illustrate Paul Levitz's script "My World Begins in Yesterday."  Very Fine condition: just a few spine tick marks, a couple of discoloration spots on the staples, and some mild non-color-breaking creasing at the lower right-hand corner of the back cover.

  6. Freedom Fighters #1 Written by Martin Pasko, interior artwork by Ric Estrada & Mike Royer, while Ernie Chan drew the cover. Fine condition: there is a 1/4 inch tear near the upper left-hand corner of the front cover, and a tinier tear about a third of the way up the right-hand edge of the front cover (at the policeman's knee.) There are also a couple of tiny tears on the upper edge of the back cover, near the upper left-hand corner.

  7. Shade the Changing Man.  First appearance.  Created, plotted and drawn by Steve Ditko.  Michael Fleischer assists with the dialogue.  Ditko drew the cover.  Fine Minus condition: there are a number of thin color-breaking creases on the front cover.  Some ink transfer staining on the back cover.  Pages are more tan on this issue than the other 3 in the lot.

  8. Steel the Indestructible Man.  First appearance. Written by Gerry Conway.  Penciled by Don Heck, who also penciled the cover.  Interior inks are by Joe Giella.   Fine condition: tiny tear at the lower staple on the spine.  Slight color loss near the upper right corner, above the word "issue."  Some soiling around the white border areas of the back cover.
