Gatcombe Antiques

A fine Regency tea caddy made from Kingwood veneer. Cut glass mixing bowl, original brass lock but has no key.

The top opens to reveal a central glass mixing bowl in its own reservoir, flanked either side by removable tea canisters with brass hinged Kingwood lids. There is a diamond shaped mother-of-pearl escutcheon to the front, and fancy brass drop ring handles on either end. The inside of the lid is lined with red waxed paper, matching the inside of the mixing bowl reservoir. This was very popular during the Regency period. It sits on four very appealing, ornate brass feet.

Cleaned, re-waxed and polished. The mixing bowl is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. In overall great condition.

Measurements: 31 cm wide, 16.5 cm deep, and 19 cm high.

Aftercare:

Cleaned and restored (where necessary) to a high presentable standard. Occasionally wipe over

with a soft cloth. From time to time, use a spray furniture polish containing bees wax, to maintain

its satin sheen. Please don't use a silicone spray as this could have a detrimental effect on the

waxed surface.
