This record player is the manual version of the DP-55L.
The turntable is driven by a direct drive system, and uses DENON quartz and AC servo motors for the rotation system, which boast excellent rotational accuracy.
AC motors are inherently free from uneven torque and cocking, and have an advantage against vibration. Furthermore, they are free from electrical noise and have the advantage of high S/N ratio. The AC servo motor uses a 10 mm diameter shaft for DD motors with a long span between the upper and lower bearings, which is strong enough to withstand lateral shake of the turntable and maintain the initial characteristics for a long period of time.
The DENON quartz system combines a magnetic recording detection system and a quartz lock system to achieve high accuracy.
The magnetic recording detection method adopted for the speed detection system uses a magnetic head to detect 1,000 pulse signals that are magnetically recorded at a precise pitch inside the rim of the outer circumference of the turntable, which increases detection accuracy. These magnetic pulses are recorded with high precision within an interval error of 1/10,000, and the detected frequency is 555.5 Hz at 33 1/3 revolutions, which is several to ten times higher than that of the general FG system. This makes for a stable servo system with excellent detection accuracy and responsiveness and high gain.
The quartz lock system controls the rotation speed by comparing the phase of the signal generated by the reference oscillator (crystal) with the phase of the output signal of the speed detector of the magnetic recording detection system.
A 2-in-1 type magnetic head for detection is used for the head of the magnetic recording detection system, and a bi-directional speed servo mechanism is used.
This allows for a severe response to even the slightest increase or decrease in rotational speed, and a quick response is realized not only when the rotational speed is delayed, but also when the speed is increased. The bi-directional servo mechanism also enables quick response to the rise and fall of the rotation speed when the rotation speed is changed.
An electronic brake is used to provide an advanced braking mechanism with no reverse rotation.
The electronic brake is activated by the stop operation and is released after the turntable is stopped.
An S-shaped tone arm is used for the tone arm.
The effective mass of the arm is reduced to improve tracing ability and compatibility with high-compliance type high-end cartridges. The arm pipe is treated with a special effect treatment to increase rigidity, and the weighted part is coupled with a damper to eliminate arm squeal.
The tone arm is firmly fixed to the arm board with a large and rigid arm base k and tail to suppress feedback.
An arm height adjustment mechanism is employed whereby the arm rest moves up and down together.
The cabinet is made of 20 mm thick high-density particle board, which in combination with the aluminum die-cast turntable frame enhances the stability of the entire player.
The exterior is finished with a Karin wood grain finish.
The dust cover is made of hard resin and is molded in one piece.
The switches for operation are integrated in the turntable frame, and self-illuminated stop switches and RPM select switches are used.
The turntable seat was developed by analyzing both the material and shape of the turntable, as well as by analyzing the vibration by laser holography interference.
