This listing is for a pair of genuine Volvo cross bars that allow for use of carrying a top box, cycle racks or lengthy items that will not fit inside the car. I owned Volvos for around 20 years because of their versatility in being able to carry almost anything!
These cross bars connect the 'hearse' bars fitted as standard to some 2, 7 & 9 series Volvo estate cars. (I believe that some other, later, Volvo models will allow for their use.) I used them on each of these models - the bars were purchased new from Volvo to match my 245 estate in 1987. I was able to use them with my 745 estate and also my 1996 940 estate. They did fit on the Kia Sorento that I bought in 2005 but I needed a step (and it was a tricky operation) for carrying pedal cycles. Consequently, I bought a tow bar mounted cycle carrier and these bars have spent the last 18 years stored within the roof space of my garage.
Unfortunately, 2 of the rubber protectors (that fit between the bar on the car roof and within the clamp of the cross bar) have disappeared during the period in storage but the other 2 are still present and I am sure that an adaptation can easily be made with something like an old bicycle inner tube, cut to size.
The cross bars can be fitted with optional locks but I did not buy these and always removed the bars from the car before garaging it. It may well be possible to obtain suitable locks but I found no need to do so.

I did scour eBay listings to see if there are any similar listings but completely failed to find any similar cross bars listed at the time of submitting this listing. Consequently, I am aware that I may have misjudged the starting price. I have decided to set a starting price fixed at £20 to reflect the fact that these are designed for use on vehicles that are now less often seen on today's roads and I have added a 'Make Offer' option that I may adjust in days to come.
The item is listed as 'Collection Only' but I would be prepared to post within the UK at the buyer's expense, if this helps. I live within 1 mile of J47 on the M4, close to Swansea West services.
