Ladies Shoe shank is a curved piece of material inserted on the bottom of the shoe or boot. All footwear made will have either metal, plastic or wooden shanks. The main purpose of the shoe or boot shank is to give extra support to the arch of the foot as well as to make the footwear a sturdy item.Footwear shank is inserted on the bottom of the footwear between the heel and the ball of the foot just below the arch. A shank is needed to help add extra support to the arch area of the shoe. Steel shanks are the most traditional. Extremely sturdy, light, strong and flexible.
