BSA B40 WD Mk1 350cc 1967

Issued to MoD Hilton Depot in Derby as part of the first contract on 9th August 1967.
Somehow it ended up in Iceland.
It was repatriated from Iceland and was re-registered in Kent in 1974. I have a couple of purchase and import documents.
I also have the V5c in my name andit is designated as historic - so no MoT and Tax issues.

I though this would be a great hobby, to convert it back to WD spec. sourcing correct accessories and history for shows etc and I started to work my way through the bike, painting it in WD green. More still to do as can be seen from the pics, and some more parts to collect for full authenticity. for example, it has a concentric carb instead of the type 398 butterfly one and the silencer could be replaced.

This model has a 20" front wheel and it has an unused front tyre.
It has a low ratio gearbox and, with the larger front wheel, this makes it ideal for conversion to a green laner. That's basically what the military did with them anyway.

When I bought it, it was done up as a green laner with a small trials tank and a single seat.
I have put on the correct tank. with no badges, a dualseat and a toolbox/air cleaner.
The tank I have de-rusted and the picture shows it nice and clean. There are two new petrol taps. I have left it empty and dry.
The seat pan is good but the cover is old and cracked which is why a couple of bits of tape are on it.
Centre stand and prop stand as standard.

Engine seems OK and, with a new battery, I have started it up and revved it cleanly on a slave fuel tank with no horrible noises.
There is, as standard, a valve lifter to help with kick starting.
The lights and horn all work and it looks like a newish B40 loom was used with extra bits of wiring to suit the WD variations. I put in a plug and socket for easier battery removal and made up a plastic battery cover pending finding an original one.

IT NEEDS A NEW OWNER - ALL SENSIBLE OFFERS CONSIDERED - CAN’T PROMISE TO ACCEPT THOUGH !

Ideally cash on collection but bank transfer would be acceptable provided funds are cleared before collection.
No haggling on collection. Be prepared to go home empty handed if that is your plan.
Buyer to arrange collection; I will assist a courier if required.
