I think Piet Hein is referring to “mindfulness” in this grook poem, the thoughtlessness (unawareness) of our thoughts (versus consciously thinking); or when we are thinking or having thoughts, we are often attached to our thoughts (requiring the need for a certain outcome, leaving no room for anything else which can lead to suffering). If there is no thoughtfulness in our thoughts, we shouldn’t be attached to a certain outcome.

Often we don’t watch our thoughts and it can disappoint when we attach to it.

Our thoughts are powerful when we consciously think, that is how we create our future. May this serve as a reminder to watch our thoughts.
