LESTOIL VINTAGE GLASS BOTTLES IN 4 ORIGINAL COLORS, RARE. VINTAGE 1960'S

These Rare Lestoil Detergent bottles were packaged in a colonial bottle strictly as a promotional item. The product itself had been around since the mid 1930's. The colonial bottle idea was tried from the mid-60's in several short selective runs. Only four major colors were offered: Green, Blue, Purple and Amber. The reason for the variation in shading was that the same glass tank was used for all of the glass bottles made. Consequently, as the desired production quantity of one color was reached, the glass was diluted with the next color. The amber glass bottle was found to have an inherent defect and was, therefore, not used for product filling in any great numbers. Incidentally, it was felt that the amber bottle was the prettiest. Although they are considered common because so many were made and saved, they certainly are collectable and wil become more so in the future.
