Remarks: *From the valuable gallery work of the collection of Jean Baptiste Pierre le Brun (1748-1813) "Galerie des Peintres Flamands, Hollandais et Allemands" (Paris, 1792-1796 with 201 plates). Le Brun came from the important French artist family of the Lebruns; he himself was above all a great art dealer and collector. He bought the Paris Hotel Lubert on Rue de Clery. There he opened his gallery, the "Salle Lebrun" in 1788, with valuable paintings by the great old masters. Due to the collapse of the art market during the French Revolution, he had to sell his entire collection. Previously, his paintings were engraved in copper by the best French engravers and documented in the above-mentioned gallery work. Le Brun himself was indispensable to the new rulers in Paris in the following years for the reorientation of the National Museum / Jean Baptiste Pierre le Brun (1748-1813), husband of Vigee Lebrun, besides being a great dealer in paintings. In 1788 he opened his art gallery "Salle Lebrun" in Paris with paintings from famous old masters. During the French Revolution the art market collapsed and he had to sell his entire collection. The paintings have been engraved before by the best French engravers and published in the gallery work "Galerie des Peintres Flamands, Hollandais et Allemands" which appeared 1792-1796 in Paris with 201 engravings.
