No reserve. Roald Amundsen's "The North West Passage" / Being the record of a voyage of exploration of the ship "Gjoa" 1903-1907 by Roald Amundsen with a supplement by First Lieutenant Hansen Vice-Commander of the Expedition. VOLUME I ONLY OF a 2-VOLUME SET. Rare antique hardback published by Constable (London) in 1908. Fully cloth bound, 335-page volume illustrated "with about one hundred and thirty-nine illustrations (including frontispiece portrait) and three maps." However, that appears to be for both volumes combined: this Volume I retains only a single fold-out color map in a pocket affixed to rear paste down; the other two must have been published in Volume II. Gilding and stamping to front board and gilding to spine. Beveled boards. Gilding to top text block edge. Not an ex-library book but a pair of ink stamps from a U.S. coast guard cutter to both front and rear end pages. Interior appears otherwise writing-free with exception of pencil pricing. One roughly 30-page section of pages in rear of volume is only tenuously still attached to binding. Rear hinge is loose. Tearing to paper in both hinge creases. One Contents page appears to have been razored out, but that missing page appears to list contents of Volume II. S/H $7.49 media mail in bubble pack envelope; $10.49 in box.
