CIRCA 1865-1875 ORNATE FRENCH "A.C.C." MARKED DESK ANEROID BAROMETER / THERMOMETER /COMPASS / CARRIAGE CLOCK COMPENDIUM

Made by "A.C.C." of PARIS.  Both  dial faces unmarked.

This combination BAROMETER / CARRIAGE CLOCK, COMPASS & THERMOMETER is about as exquisite as one will find in this form of 19th century compendium.

This a super fine BAROMETER / THERMOMETER / COMPASS & CARRIAGE CLOCK COMPENDIUM for the mantle or desk-top.   This particular form is extremely rare and desirable and never or almost never come up for sale. The BAROMETER seems to work, as it is on "70" or "69" during normal weather, with scale reading from "69" to "80." American or English barometers have a low scale read-out it seems where "30" is a normal temperature.  The THERMOMETER has mercury and seems to be working fine and the tube is not broken or cracked.  The clock is not working but probably just needs an oiling and a adjustment.  We tried the clock winding stem with a needle nose a little, and is winds freely with no slippage.   We date this to 1865-1875.  Nice, elaborate and desirable.

MADE PRIMARILY OF BRASS & GLASS.

STANDS  6 1/4" TALL and is also 6 1/2" WIDE.  The whole assembly is a mere 2 1/2" DEEP.    

Wear is consistent with age and use. One piece on bottom right corner beveled glass is broken out (see photos). The dials on both the clock face and the barometer face may be some sort of composition material.  Hard to tell.   

Balance wheel off from axis and does not move.  Clock hands can be moved from rear adjustment key winding stem.
