I’ve been a sports card collector for over 30 years, but unfortunately I have to leave the hobby. I have Crohn’s Disease and it has reached a point where I am no longer able to work. I am waiting to be approved for disability benefits, however, benefits will be far less than my normal income so I have no choice but to sell my collection in order to raise money to help cover my living and medical expenses.

Since I don’t have the time to list and sell it all individually, I’m selling everything in these lots. I will no longer be selling cards individually or in any other way besides this listing so every card and card related item I own, regardless of value, will be sold in these lots.

Each lot contains 25 cards with NO COMMONS. By commons, I mean cards that hold little or no value regardless of the player on the card. For example, a 1993 Topps Don Mattingly or a 2023 Topps Juan Soto is technically not a common, but for the purposes of these lots, I consider them commons because they have no resale value. Many people sell lots filled with these kinds of cards so they can say they are not selling commons, but in reality, even though they depict stars, those cards are just as worthless as a common. I don't think that is a fair way to sell cards and it couldn't be further from what I am doing. I am trying to sell the cards in my collection that have value in these lots, while donating all commons and "valueless" stars to kids who will actually enjoy them (see below if you know an organization that can help facilitate this). I can't justify charging people $1 a card for cards that are worthless and can't be resold. I'm liquidating my collection to raise money, not trying to scam people by selling them $3 worth of cards for $25. As people begin to buy lots and post what they received in their feedback, the difference between what those people do and what I am doing will become quite obvious.

Lots contain Baseball, Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Hockey cards. The distribution is roughly 40% baseball, 25% football, 15% basketball, 15% soccer, and 5% hockey (that’s across the whole collection, individual lots will vary and rarely contain cards from more than three different sports).

Some lots may also include complete sets, wax boxes, packs of top loaders, packs of team bags, packs of penny sleeves, and one touches along with similar items in addition to the 25 cards. I have tons of supplies and sealed wax/sets that I need to get rid of so I decided to just throw them in the lots.

Every lot is different, but when I was making the lots I made sure that every lot was worth more than it cost. How much more varies as some lots contain cards worth hundreds of dollars, but most lots are worth at least 50% more than their price. Since I need to raise money as soon as possible, I'm selling the lots at a discount to sell them faster.

Most modern cards are in mint condition while vintage cards vary in condition. Please view the photos which show most of my collection in boxes and then show some of my cards to give you an idea of what is in the lots. I tried to show a little of everything as my collection is way too large to comprehensively photograph in only 24 photos.

These photos are a small fraction of everything I have, so if you see a certain type of card in the photos, I likely have a lot more of them that didn’t get photographed. Basically, I grabbed some cards from different boxes for each photo so the more a certain type of card appears in the photos, the more I have of them.

I’ve been on eBay for nearly 20 years and I proudly have a 100% feedback rating. I always put buyers first, and since I need all the good karma I can get right now, it's even more important to me that every buyer is happy with the lots they receive.

Not only are people buying my collection, but they are providing me with the money I will need to get through the next few years, so I feel I owe it to everyone who buys to do right by them as they are helping me more than they know.

Additionally, every buyer is not only helping me, but also helping all people suffering from Crohn’s Disease as I am donating a portion of every sale to The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, a charity that works to find cures for both of these incurable diseases and provides help to those currently fighting them. Purchases may or may not be tax-deductible so check the tax laws in your state.

Please feel free to send me a message if you have any questions in regards to any aspects of this sale.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and thanks to all of the amazing people I have met through the hobby. I wish you all health, happiness, and nothing but the best in life.

PS: All of my commons will be donated to an organization that will give them to underprivileged children. If anyone knows of a reputable organization that does this, please message me.

*****Update: May 23rd - I just wanted to provide an update to those waiting on ordered lots. Due to the time I lost fighting off this small flare, I’m currently about 5-7 days behind on shipping. I was able to finally get some work done yesterday and packed up 16 orders which I’ll be dropping off at the post office shortly. I’m starting to catch up so the 5-7 day delay should be dropping as I’m able to get things done.

I’m packing orders in the order in which they were placed so that the delay is as short as possible for everyone. Assuming no further set backs, I think that I will be close to caught up by Monday or Tuesday of next week.

I sincerely apologize for the delays and I want to thank everyone for their patience, kindness, and understanding. All of the people I have spoken to have been so supportive and considerate which just makes me feel even worse about the delays. I mean, if you guys were obnoxious I wouldn’t feel so bad! But everyone has been so great that I really am so so sorry for the delays. If anyone has any questions or needs anything from me, always know that you can reach out to me at any time. I will post another update on Monday to let everyone know how things are moving. Thank you all again for your patience and being part of this very unique project.*****

*****PS: On a different subject, as I mentioned before, I have over 10,000 1st Bowman’s, Prospects, and RCs across all sports, years, and sets. Lots of them are refractors, prizms, SPs, and other high-end cards along with chrome and paper depending on the set. Other than Football, I really only watch the other sports during the playoffs (or the World Cup for Soccer) so I have no clue who is good or what any of them are worth and I don’t have the time or energy to look thousands of players up. There are guys that are stars that I simply haven’t heard of, like Anthony Edwards who I learned about two months ago. Even then I had no clue what his cards were worth until I looked one up and was shocked. Up to that point, he was just another guy in one of my rookie boxes. So you can clearly see the potential but I haven’t been including them in lots because not every guy is Edwards and I don’t want to include worthless cards (I’ve included a few whose names I recognize but I have no clue if they were valuable). But knowing some of those cards are valuable, I do want to sell them and I’ve thought of two options:

A) Include them as a bonus. I’ve been doing that but I’d rather a different way.

B) Offer them as a separate item. I have been thinking about this and I really like this idea. Possibly having multiple price points with 25, 50, and 100 cards.

I’d love to hear from previous buyers since you have received lots and know what they are like, as well as interested buyers. I am personally leaning towards option B as it doesn’t impact the existing lots, and is essentially a different product. The current lots are quality cards, while this is more like speculation which I know some people love and some people don’t. Since the feedback on the lots has been great and remaking lots would take forever, I really don’t want to change them. If anyone has a different idea or wants to support one of the options above, please let me know and once I have gotten caught up on shipping, I will decide what to do.*****

*****Update: May 14th - Two things I wanted to share with everyone:

First - Just a reminder to check the cards in your lots as there are tons of SPs, SSPs, photo variations, and other special cards that aren’t always obvious.

Second - I was going through a bunch of old boxes over the weekend and realized that I have thousands of rookies and prospects from all different sports. I haven’t been putting them in lots because I don’t keep up with prospects and have no clue which are good and which aren’t. That said, some might be valuable and some might become valuable so I want to start including them. However, since I don’t know if the players have potential or are worthless, it wouldn’t be fair to include them in lots where you are essentially paying $1 a card. The solution I came up with was to include them in their own pack as a bonus for random orders. So if you see a second smaller pack when you get your lots, that’s what it is.

*****UPDATE: APRIL 30th - I HATE HAVING TO WRITE THIS, BUT IF YOU TRY THE SCAM OF ASKING FOR A REFUND BECAUSE YOU THOUGHT YOU WERE BUYING THE ENTIRE COLLECTION FOR $25, I WILL DENY IT AND EBAY WILL TOO.

If you receive your lot/lots and are genuinely unhappy, by all means please let me know and we can talk about how to fix it.

*****UPDATE: APRIL 27th - Lots are really beginning to sell at a faster rate than I had hoped and I thank all of you who have bought. Unfortunately, at $25 per lot: eBay gets $3.75, shipping is $4, and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation gets $2.50, leaving me with ~$15 per lot. That puts me well short of the target that I calculated would be needed to subsidize my disability benefits.

In order to address this, I have added a $4 shipping charge (additional lots will be $1 each). With shipping covered, my final net jumps to ~$19. Over the course of 1000 lots, that extra $3-$4k would cover three months rent by itself and would get me back on track to hitting my target.

I truly apologize for having to add a shipping cost as I always want to offer people the best deal possible, but I am fully dependent on this sale for my financial stability and I have to make sure that when all the cards are gone, I have enough to survive. I hope this change doesn’t prevent anyone who were considering buying from doing so.

On a brighter note, I’d really like to thank those who have reached out to me with support and their own stories. I truly appreciate those messages as learning about other’s experiences and struggles has helped me feel less isolated and alone while reminding me that everyone is fighting something and nobody’s life is “perfect”. So once again, thank you to everyone who has supported me in any way so far including those who have bought lots, those who have sent me messages of support, and those who have shared their experiences. Regardless of how you have shown your support, I am truly grateful.

*****UPDATE: April 20th - I will no longer be donating thru eBay. The CCF is now supporting this sale as an official fundraising campaign and all future donations will be sent directly to them on a monthly basis. They will be sending me official CCF stickers that will be placed on all lots going forward. This change was made based on conversations with the CCF and their desire to work with me directly meaning eBay’s help is no longer needed.
