Set of Nesting Tables model No. 986 designed by Josef Hoffmann in 1905 for J&J Kohn.

In great condition, with traces of age and use.

In 1905, a pivotal year for the Wiener Werkstätte, two visionary designers, Josef Hoffmann and Koloman Moser, embarked on their most groundbreaking creative endeavors. Their central idea during this period was a profound commitment to simplifying forms to their essential elements. This design philosophy also extended to Josef Hoffmann's 1905 creation of nesting tables.

Hoffmann's design for these tables exemplifies the spirit of the time, with the outer table featuring a geometric lattice work pattern as a distinctive hallmark. These tables were brought to life by the innovative bentwood furniture company of that era, Jacob & Josef Kohn, using bent and stained beechwood. The smallest of the nesting tables bears the company's label discreetly on its underside. These three interconnected tables glide effortlessly, offering versatile utility and functionality as they seamlessly adapt to various uses..
