A rare pair of black Reynolds skewers. Vintage period with the old “R” logo.

These will fit Road and MTB bikes with traditional QR rear axles.

The front skewer rod is steel and the rear rod is titanium. This was because the steel rod holds the hub in the fork blades more firmly than titanium as it doesn’t stretch like titanium does, thus improving steering rigidity over a titanium skewer up front. There is no steering torsion at the rear hub so titanium is used there to save weight. Clever.

Another nice feature is the aero profile nuts which reduce frontal area, they also look cool and Dura-Ace skewers copied them later on! Apparently they saved something like 2 watts as well!

Condition is well used as pictured, working well but could use a little cosmetic TLC.
