original vintage tattoo acetate stencil flash breezy biker 1%er cobra snake 4x5

size is roughly 4x5 inches at the largest points.  excellent quality.

original hand cut vintage acetate stencil contained in a fairly sizable lot of breezy tattoo items including flash, acetates, tracings and personal items.

Very little is known about James "Breezy" or "Bright" Brizendine's history as a tattooer.  He was born 1927 and also was a US Navy veteran in WWII.  At some point he founded Breezy's Tattoo Studio in Rantoul, IL, just south of Chicago and close to Chanute Air Force Base which provided a steady flow of tattooed skin to be tattooed on military payday until the base closed in 1993.  An old, undated, tattoo business card also names Jim Belcher, and "Snake" working at the shop.  Breezy's intern, Belcher, bought the shop after James retired from tattooing and owned it until it closed.  Biker tattooer Ron Evie worked at Breezy's in the late 1970s and into the early 1980s based on notes appearing on shop flash.  Breezy was also somehow associated with Peoria, IL carnival/circus tattooer Ted Hamilton (One of TH's wives, Pearl, was from Rantoul.) as JB had several signed sheets of TH's flash at the shop.

see ruler in photo to size and photos as they are part of the description.

no copies or scans of the design have been done. images on listing are photos of the actual item (as opposed to scans) itself.

the last collage photo displays a photo of breezy in the navy, a shipping label for his shop and his on an acetate stencil.  none of these items are included in this sale but provided to give a historical context to the item being sold.
