ABOUT ETOPPS (if you are not familiar with them): eTopps is a type of online trading card
originally launched by the Topps company in 2000. If collectors
preferred delivery of their cards, etopps would ship the physical cards out of their warehouse for a fee and remove the coresponding one from the owner's online portfolio . Card values in online portfolios were determined based on actual sales on
the eBay trading floor, giving each collector an up-to-the-minute
portfolio value. (This could have been the future of the Sports Cards Business, but Topps decided curiously to end the program, to many collectors' disappointment.) Read on......
UPDATE ON ETOPPS: On January 9, 2012, Topps announced on the eTopps.com webpage that it would no longer be selling new IPOs, but would continue trading, selling, and shipping existing eTopps cards. Many of the cards are rare, almost all are in Mint to GEM Mint condition as they are sealed in protective cases, and they are beautiful collector items... hence why I described the program termination as 'curious' . This may make the cards that were printed even more valuable going forward, but it's tough to say.
