Superb Mid-Century Tessa Fuchs 17.5cm Studio Pottery 'Dodo' Bowl

A rather wonderful, whimsical conical 17.5cm diameter footed bowl, hand made and painted by Tessa Fuchs. The bowl is painted in bright pastel colours with a simple mottled exterior and a gorgeous Dodo under a blazing sun to the interior. There is a clear impressed mark to the base. A really fantastic piece!

Fuchs was born in Cheshire in 1936 and studied at the Salford Technical Art School and the Central School of Arts & Crafts in London before setting up her own studio. She made sculptural pieces and domestic ware (such as this bowl), often decorated with cartoonish animals in bright matte glazes. She died in 2012 in Suffolk and her pieces are now very collectable.

The bowl is in excellent condition other than a tiny, tiny nick to one edge below the outer rim but no other chips or cracks. Please see pictures for more information.

17.5cm diameter, 8cm tall. Weight 293g.
