Pantha Du Prince signed to Rough Trade in 2009 & Black Noise is his first
album for the famous UK label.

Otherwise known as Hendrik Weber, this German-born artist (who spends his
time between Berlin & Paris) makes minimalist techno in the vein of Detroit
& the deep, stumbling house of Theo Parrish ? though his introverted brand of
tripping techno draws on the traditions of British pop, including Durutti C
olumn?s avant la letter shoegaze & noisepop.

Black Noise features spots from Noah Lennox (Animal Collective) & Tyler
Pope (!!!, LCD Soundsystem).

The music on Black Noise goes beyond the conventional techno format in a
variety of ways, balancing precariously on the slippery threshold between
art & nature, between techno & folklore, giving it a certain spectral aspect.

Having played bass in the Hamburg-based band Stella, Weber has plenty of
indie rock experience under his belt, so, though influenced by electro-acoustic
neo-avantgardes (Morton Subotnick, Luigi Nono), Krautrock & deep techno,
he shapes a novel kind of club music that is probably best described by the
term ?sonic house?.
