This is a wonderfully colorful Antique Straits Chinese small knot Satin Embroidery.  This embroidery was purchased by my father & myself in the early 1970's in Penang, Malaysia during the period he owned a Southeast Asian Antique Shop in Batu Ferringhi.  As a discerning collector of Chinese textiles he purchased all of his embroideries from two to three local Antique Shops that only specialized in Peranakan or local Straits Chinese items.  As a stand-alone piece this delicate embroidery could be framed behind glass or hung from a wall & would show beautifully.  In regards to condition please note that the Condition Description below:

This Antique embroidery is in Fine Condition.  There are perhaps 4-5 slight discolorations on the top green portion & middle portion of the purple fabric and well as a couple of loose gold threaded stitch loops in a couple of areas of the embroidery.  The border trimming has no stains but there is some slight wear on the upper left portion of the blue border trim. See Photo #9 thru #12 showing closeup of imperfections

There are three fold creases on this embroidery due to the manner it was stored in the past.  I estimate this Peranakan piece dates to the Turn of the Century (1900) or perhaps earlier.

Embroidery Dimensions: 33 inches wide and 14 3/4 inches in length.  Weight: 4.6 ounces
