Acoustic Energy AE1 Reference Series 2. They have been in regular use and still sound very good. The only reason I'm selling them is that they are extremely heavy for the bookshelf they now stand on and I have had to find something lighter.
I have owned these speakers for more than 20 years and shortly after I purchased them one of the binding posts broke (see 10th photo) and to repair it, the binding post was soldered back on and the cable that bridges the two sets of binding posts together for a single speaker wire set-up was soldered into position. This means they CAN NOT be Bi-Wired, as a banana plug can not be inserted into that socket and the binding post will not accept bare wire either. They have been used in this manner for all those years, with no problem at all.
The overall condition is good for the age, although there are a few blemishes which I have highlighted in the last 3 photographs. There are a few light marks to the underside too, again which I have tried to show and both speakers have 4 adhesive rubber feet attached.
These are the original AE1 Reference Series from the 1990's and not the "Classic" that were realised in the 2000's.
They come with their original grills.
I do not have the original packaging and because of this and their considerable weight (15.5kgs for the pair) they are for collection only. I have found a box that will protect them for the journey to their new home in your car, but the box is not suitable for transportation by a courier, so as I have said above they are COLLECTION IN PERSON ONLY.
