I bought his unit to replace what I thought was a damaged LCD panel below the Speedo and Tachometer on my own 2003 BMW X5 E53. It turned out the unit was actually OK, so I never needed to open and use this one. It is brand new in a polythene sealed pack.
If you buy mine it will arrive a lot quicker than one from China.
If the display is just dark, its probably a back light bulb, but if you see pixels missing you need this. Its most likely a failure f the ribbon conn ting the display to the circuit board. This display has the ribbon connector attached. No soldering required it usues a strip clip.
It's an easy swap if you are handy and there are tutorials on you tube showing you how.
