The Bygone Beauties cards are loose with no album and are two incomplete sets which consists of three large size cards which have the reference numbers: 2, 4 and 10 and ten medium size cards which have the reference numbers: 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 16, 20 and 23 with one of the cards being a duplicate of the number 20 card. The three large size cards are believed to have been issued by John Player & Sons in 1916 and the ten medium sized cards are believed to have been issued by John Player & Sons in 1914. The cards appear varyingly discoloured and have various stains, dirt and foxing marks on them as well as various scuffs, creases and imprinted marks with the visual appearance of some cards more prominently and detrimentally affected than others as a result. There is some loss of printed detailing from the back of the card with the reference number 2 which appears to be a result of the surface being torn. The edges of the cards are varyingly scuffed and worn with some indentions also apparent in some and there are a few where the edges are noticeably softened, split and torn. The tips of the corners of the cards are also varyingly rounded and dog-eared with some more prominently affected than others. The cards appear varyingly curved and bent with the large size cards being the more prominently affected. The approximate size of each of the large size cards is 67mm x 98mm. The approximate size of each of the medium size cards is 35mm x 67mm. The approximate combined weight of the thirteen cards is 18g.
